# How to access your cassetto fiscale (Italian tax records) at the Agenzia delle Entrate

> The cassetto fiscale is where the Italian tax agency keeps your tax returns, Certificazioni Uniche, F24 payments and registered contracts. You get in from the Agenzia delle Entrate reserved area with SPID, CIE or CNS: here are the steps and what to do if you can't manage on your own.

To get into your **cassetto fiscale** (literally the «tax drawer»: your personal tax records), go to the website of the **Agenzia delle Entrate** (Italy's tax agency), open the **area riservata** (reserved area) and sign in with **SPID** (Italy's public digital identity), the **Carta d'identità elettronica (CIE)** (electronic ID card) or the **Carta nazionale dei servizi (CNS)** (national services smart card). Then, in the **Consultazioni e Ricerca** ("Lookups and search") category, choose **Cassetto fiscale**.

You can check it at any time: it holds the tax returns you filed, your Certificazioni Uniche (the annual income statements from employers and pension funds), the payments you made with the F24 form, and registered contracts, such as rental agreements.

## What's in the cassetto fiscale

According to the Agency, in the cassetto fiscale you can see, among other things:

- your **personal data**, including your tax domicile and the Agency office responsible for you;
- the **tax returns** you filed, your **Certificazioni Uniche** and your choices for the **2, 5 and 8 per mille** (the small shares of your income tax you can assign to a party, a charity or a religious group);
- the **payments** made with the **F24** and **F23** forms;
- **registered deeds**: rental contracts, inheritances, public deeds;
- the **refunds** granted and paid;
- the **Agency's communications**, in the «l'Agenzia scrive» ("the Agency writes") section;
- tax **credits** and contributions.

If you have a partita IVA (VAT number) there are more sections, for example on the reliability indexes (ISA).

## Before you start

- **You need a digital identity**: SPID, CIE or CNS. These are the three methods accepted by all Italian public administration online services. If you don't have one, read [how to get SPID](https://simplebuild.it/tutorial/ottenere-spid) or [how to activate the CIE with the CieID app](https://simplebuild.it/tutorial/attivare-cie).
- **Keep your phone nearby**, to confirm the sign-in in your SPID provider's app or in the CieID app.
- **Only sign in from the official website**, typing the address [agenziaentrate.gov.it](https://www.agenziaentrate.gov.it/portale/area-riservata) yourself. Treat messages that ask you to «check your cassetto fiscale» or to pay something by clicking a link with suspicion: read [how to recognize a scam message](https://simplebuild.it/tutorial/riconoscere-email-phishing).
- **Use your own computer or phone**: it contains your income and personal data.

## How to get into the cassetto fiscale

The site is in Italian: the button names below are shown in Italian, with a translation.

1. Open the Agency's page [Accedi all'area riservata](https://www.agenziaentrate.gov.it/portale/area-riservata) ("Sign in to the reserved area").
2. Choose how to sign in: **SPID**, **CIE** or **CNS**.
3. Complete the sign-in with your method (for example by confirming in your SPID provider's app, or with the CieID app).
4. In the reserved area, in the **Consultazioni e Ricerca** ("Lookups and search") category, select **Cassetto fiscale**.

5. A page opens with the available sections: select **Consultazioni** ("Lookups").

6. Choose the item you need, for example **Dichiarazioni fiscali** ("Tax returns").

## Find a tax return or a payment

Some pointers from the Agency's official guide:

- **Tax returns**: in the **Dichiarazioni fiscali** side menu, choose the form (for example **Modello 730**, the standard return for employees and pensioners). The **Dettagli del modello** ("Form details") button shows the sections; **Annualità disponibili** ("Available years") takes you to previous years. There is data for the last 11 years; for older years, back to 1998, there is only the transmission receipt.
- **Payments**: the payments section lists payments made with F24 and F23 and the F24 receipts. You can search for a payment within the chosen year.
- **Registry data**: you find registered deeds, year by year, and inheritance data. Opening a row shows the details, which you can also print.
- **Refunds**: refunds paid after the tax return, from 1994 onward.

If you want to keep a document, print it to PDF and save it in a folder that is part of your [PC backup](https://simplebuild.it/tutorial/backup-pc-windows).

## If you can't get in on your own

The Agency offers two ways to get help, without giving anyone your credentials:

- **A trusted person**: citizens who have difficulty or can't access the reserved area can authorize a relative or a trusted person to use some online services for them. The same applies to guardians, support administrators and parents of minor children. The instructions are on the page [L'accesso ai servizi online per rappresentanti e persone di fiducia](https://www.agenziaentrate.gov.it/portale/l-accesso-ai-servizi-online-per-rappresentanti-e-persone-di-fiducia) ("Online services access for representatives and trusted persons", in Italian).
- **An intermediary with a delega**, such as an accountant (commercialista) or a CAF (tax assistance center): you can authorize them to look at your cassetto fiscale. The delega must be registered with the Agency, by you in the reserved area or through the intermediary, and expires on December 31 of the fourth following year. Note: the authorized intermediary **does not see** your 2, 5 and 8 per mille choices.

## If it still doesn't work

- **You only have the Agency's old credentials** (codice fiscale, password and PIN): they no longer work for citizens. You need SPID, CIE or CNS.
- **SPID won't let you in**: if you forgot the password or changed phone, sort it out with your SPID provider. If you have an active CIE, try with that.
- **The site is slow at night**: the service is always on, but between 1 and 2 a.m., on maintenance days, it may slow down.
- **You want tax refunds paid into your bank account**: from the reserved area you can register your IBAN by following **Servizi > Istanze, comunicazioni e certificati > Comunicazione IBAN per accredito rimborsi e altre somme su c/c** ("Services > Applications, notices and certificates > IBAN notice for refunds and other payments to a bank account").
- **You're not sure what the data means**: for tax questions the right person is a CAF or an accountant. For access and problems with SPID, CIE, phone or computer, a trusted technician can help you get everything ready, while the credentials stay with you.

## Frequently asked questions

### Can I still sign in to the cassetto fiscale with my codice fiscale and PIN?

No, not as a private citizen. The old Fisconline credentials the Agency issued to citizens no longer work for the reserved area: you need SPID, CIE or CNS.

### How many years of tax returns can I see?

The Agency's guide shows tax return data for the last 11 years. For earlier years, back to 1998, there is only the transmission receipt.

### Can my accountant look at my cassetto fiscale?

Yes, if you give them a delega (authorization), which must be registered with the Agency: you can do it yourself from the reserved area or through them. The delega expires on December 31 of the fourth following year, unless you revoke it.

### What hours is the service available?

It runs every day, 24 hours a day. The Agency warns that it may slow down between 1 and 2 a.m. on maintenance days.
